Voici ce qui me fait dire que j'ai quand même toujours préféré le Marillion avec Fish :

Marillion / Misplaced Childhood 5-disc deluxe with Steven Wilson 5.1 mix

Remastered • 5-disc set with 5.1 on blu-ray • 4LP vinyl box

Marillion‘s classic 1985 studio album Misplaced Childhood, which features the hits Kayleigh and Lavender, will be reissued as two deluxe editions in June, including a five-disc set that will feature a lossless 5.1 remix of the album created by producer, musician and surround maestro Steven Wilson!

The 4CD+blu-ray package features a newly remastered edition of the album, a concert from Holland across two CDs (including Misplaced Childhood performed in its entirety) and a fourth disc of demos and rarities “remastered exclusively for this set”. These demos were previously issued on the 1998 two-CD deluxe of the album. The October 1985 concert was recorded Live at the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in the city of Utrecht. It’s all previously unreleased except for Chelsea Monday which was the B-side to third single, Heart Of Lothian.

In addition, to the surround sound version of the album (hi-res 96kHz 24 bit), Kayleigh B-side Lady Nina has also been mixed to 5.1 and there’s also a new stereo remix of that track as well (this also features on CD 4 along with the original mix of Lady Nina). Note, the album itself isn’t presented as a new stereo remix since this was an instance where Wilson felt the original couldn’t be bettered.

On top of all this great content, the blu-ray delivers an hour-long documentary about the album and promo videos for the singles Lavender, Kayleigh, Lady Nina (which was the A-side to US EP Brief Encounter) and Heart Of Lothian.

The entire five-disc deluxe edition is presented in a case-bound ‘bookset’ that includes a 60-page booklet with sleeve notes written by Dave Everley.



The 4LP vinyl deluxe edition features the the newly remastered version of the original album and the entire concert from Holland. The four LPs are pressed on 180g vinyl and presented in a 12” x 12” lift-top box. This comes with a 24-page booklet which contains replica tour program and extensive writing on the history of the album.

These two physical deluxe editions of Misplaced Childhood will be issued on 21 July. Album-only versions of the newly remastered original album will follow on CD and LP later in the year.

MARILLION : Paris, Zénith, 7/10/17

Le Zénith qui avait accueilli en son temps l'un des concerts les plus forts du groupe émotionnellement parlant à savoir celui du 8 novembre 1985 (concert bénéficiant de 3 rappels de folie auquel je n'avais pas pu malheureusement assister mais que j'avais pu écouter via l'émission "Live" sur RTL présentée par Dominique Farran, ceux qui y étaient doivent certainement s'en rappeler) allait être de nouveau le théâtre d'un concert grandiose.

Donc, deuxième concert en moins d'un an pour ma part sur invitation de François27 du BSF, cette fois-ci dans une salle qui correspond davantage à la notoriété du groupe à savoir le Zénith. En comparaison avec le show du 10 décembre dernier à l'Elysée Montmartre, pas de première partie ennuyeuse comme le fut celle assurée par John Wesley.

Bref, on entre donc dans le vif du sujet avec l'interprétation pendant plus d'une heure de F.E.A.R dans son intégralité, une prise de risque ô combien louable car reconnaissons-le, il s'agit d'un album particulièrement complexe dans sa composition. A certains moments, je l'avoue, il m'arrive de décrocher le "Phil" de la mélodie. Steve Rothery, toujours le sourire aux lèvres, nous gratifie, comme à son habitude, de soli magnifiques. "Magnifiques" comme les lights employés pour ce show, encore plus qu'à l'Elysée Montmartre.

Steve Hogarth, taquin à ses heures, chante bien, très bien même si par moments épars, il éprouve quelques difficultés à monter sur les notes les plus aigües (constaté par certains membres du forum The Web consacré au groupe). Il est vrai que le temps s'est sacrément rafraîchi ces derniers temps. Par ailleurs, la basse de Pete Trewawas est beaucoup trop en avant masquant parfois les interventions du claviériste Mark Kelly. Sur cette partie de concert, je note une excellente interprétation de Living In F.E.A.R, un morceau qui me botte bien ainsi que les cinq "chapitres" de The Leavers.





























Au bout de 80 minutes, le groupe sort de scène pour une pause d'un petit quart d'heure pour revenir ensuite accompagné de 4 superbes violoncellistes et d'un joueur de cor. Là, nous sommes gâtés. Ce sont tour à tour The Space, Afraid Of Sunlight, The Great Escape, le fabuleux Easter, Man Of Thousand Faces et Go qui nous sont proposés dans de sublimes versions symphoniques, le quintet soutenu efficacement par leurs illustres aînés.





















Le quintet de musiciens classiques est ovationné par le public parisien. Pas facile effectivement de venir y apposer des éléments classiques dans la musique complexe et alambiquée de Marillion. Je remarque également à ce propos que notre ami Hogarth ne semble pas être insensible à la jeune flutiste à qui il adresse un sourire appuyé.

Quelques instants plus tard, sous des acclamations fournies, Steve Rothery et ses comparses réinvestissent la scène pour jouer The Invisible Man, Waiting To Happen et Neverland beaux à pleurer. Ils ressortent un peu plus longtemps cette fois pour nous proposer en compagnie de notre "mini-orchestre" symphonique une réinterprétation magistrale de The Leavers: V. One Tonight concluant un concert superbe en tout point de la plus belle des façons. Hogarth est une nouvelle fois content car la jolie flutiste brille tout particulièrement sur cet ultime morceau....A mon avis, d'ici quelques temps, on apprendra l'heureuse nouvelle et ce, par le biais d'un "Marillion-les" bien senti.

Je ne connaissais pas du tout ce groupe et j'ai commencé à écouter cet album plus haut et c'est bien j'aime bien !! Merci pour cette nouvelle découverte !!

Grand disque

Superbe revue de concert cher Phil! J'ai pour ma part lâché Marillion ET Fish en même temps. La raison: deux albums TRÈS médiocres pour l'un et pour l'autre en même temps "Holiday in Eden" et "Internal Exile". Alors, oui, on m'a déjà dis 1000 fois "tu devrais réessayer" , "cet album là est géant" et tout et tout... Pour le moment, le seul groupe que je suis de près dans la sphère Marillionesque, c'est Transatlantic.
Une dernière chose: tu mentionnes ce fameux concert du 8 Novembre 1985 diffusé sur RTL (avec tonton Zézé qui présentait) Comme, beaucoup de fan, je possède ce pirate mais j'ajouterai une chose: j'y étais! Dans la fosse! Je n'ai touché le sol qu'après "Slainte Math" et "Assassin"... Quel concert, malgré le fait que Fish eut été torché comme un coin...

Le poissecaille était fumé

The deluxe set with the optical discs features a brand new stereo remix by Steven Wilson, the original 1994 mix by Dave Meegan, and two CDs of Live At La Cigale performance from ’94. The audio has been newly remixed by Michael Hunter, and features a performance of Brave in its entirety. This is now the complete performance as it has been expanded with nine unreleased tracks

The blu-ray contains 96/24 audio of Steven Wilson’s remix of the album in stereo and 5.1 surround sound, as well as promo videos for the album’s singles and a new documentary about the album that includes concert footage and interviews with the band.

The 5LP vinyl box contains the Steven Wilson stereo mix on the first two records and the live performance on the remaining three LPs.

Both the CD/Blu-ray and vinyl versions of Brave are accompanied by illustrated booklets that recount the story behind the album.

Brave will be reissued on 9 March 2018

Non non non non non. Toujours pas et même plus jamais malheureusement je pense...

Par contre, j'ai découvert ça chez Gibert St Michel hier... "Recital of the Script revisited" et comment!... Comme si Mick Pointer avait "désappris" Arena. Comme si les autres se prenaient pour les membres originaux... Bref, c'est humble et génial à la fois. Et destiné avant tout à ceux qui, comme moi, n'ont pas survécu à "Holiday in Eden"... Voici donc un sacré tribute band qui fait honneur aux débuts de Marillion. Quelques titres de "Fugazi" n'auraient d'ailleurs même pas dépareillés - je crois que Mick Pointer a joué live la version embryonnaire d'"Assassin". Re-bref, si vous étiez déjà au courant de tout ça depuis longtemps, désolé de vous avoir fait perdre votre temps...

"Brave" est un grand disque

Le 13 octobre 2017, Marillion a joué pour la toute première fois au Royal Albert Hall. Le concert a été complet en une fraction de seconde et le public, voyageant de partout dans le monde, a été récompensé par un incroyable concert.
En deux parties, "All One Tonight" (Live au Royal Albert Hall) "présente en premier lieu l'album studio acclamé du groupe" F *** Everyone and Run (F E A R) ", la deuxième partie présente In Praise Of Folly et ses invités, un quatuor à cordes avec flûte et cor d'harmonie qui, tout au long du reste du concert, insuffle une profondeur et une émotion supplémentaires à certains des morceaux les plus appréciés de Marillion.
Le groupe de rock britannique Marillion, fondé en 1979, est devenu l'un des groupes rock néo-progressistes les plus prospères des années 1980 et reste l'un des représentants les plus remarquables de son genre. Ils ont sorti 18 albums studio qui se sont vendus à plus de 15 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde.

Le film du concert "All One Tonight (Live au Royal Albert Hall)" a été réalisé et édité par Tim Sidwell et enregistré et mixé par Michael Hunter. Le Blu-ray est livré avec des bonus exclusifs tels qu'un documentaire de 35 minutes.
