In 1979, WHITESNAKE welcomed their ally John Lord and started their activities in earnest. Introducing a treasured live album where you can enjoy the extremely rare songs “The Time Is Right For Love” and “Love To Keep You Warm.” What is inscribed in this work is “March 3, 1979 Hammersmith Odeon performance”. It is the super best audience recording. Speaking of 1979, it was the year of the masterpiece “LOVEHUNTER”, and before it was released, the drummer was changed from Dave Dole to Ian Paice. So, is it the drawl that is being criticized in this work? Is it Pace? First, let’s unravel the schedule at that time.
●1978 《February 13th: Brian Johnston joins》 ・March 3rd – 31st: UK #1 (17 performances) ← *MUSIC MACHINE 1978 and others 《Brian leaves → Pete Thorley joins》 《April 7th-13th “SNAKEBITE” production》 ・April 25th – July 9th: Europe #1 (6 performances) ←*LYCEUM 1978 《Pete leaves → Jon Lord joins》 [“TROUBLE” completed on August 12th] ・October 26th – November 23rd: UK #2 (17 performances) ← *HANLEY 1978 and others ●1979 ・February 9th – April 9th: Europe #2 (17 performances) ←★Here★ 《Production of “LOVEHUNTER” in May》 ・June 1st – July 1st: Europe #3 (20 performances) 《Dave Dole leaves → Ian Paice joins》 ・August 18th – September 14th: Europe #4 (3 performances) ← *Official Reading ・September 23: Los Angeles performance ・October 11th – November 15th: UK #3 (23 performances)
This is a summary of activities in 1978/1979. “LOVEHUNTER” was produced in May 1979, but the Hammersmith performance of this work was “Europe #2” just before. This was the 11th concert, and Doul was sitting on the stool. Also, this show is a special performance that is slightly different from regular concerts. It was also a charity event for the Cancer Eradication Fund, which was established by F1 driver Gunnar Nilsson, who passed away from testicular cancer in 1978. This work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a show, has an extremely thrilling audience. Although the sound that absorbs the sound of the hall is not the type that can be mistaken for a sound board, the core that penetrates the transparent air is strong and extremely thick, and it feels like it brings even the smallest details to your ears with a tremendous rushing force. Even with a thick hall sound, it gives dynamism to the performance, but mysteriously it does not hide the edge, the two guitars are intertwined so that they do not mix, and Jon Lord’s keyboard is brilliant and free improvisation. One sound is clear. When it comes to vocals, not only every word of the lyrics, but even the nuances of sexy sighs are felt right in front of your ears. Although the distance is never zero, and you can clearly feel the sound of the hall, it creates a luster and beauty that cannot be achieved with a sound board. A special edition of the type that pursues the so-called “beauty only found in customer records.” It is a superb recording comparable to “RAFTERS 1978 (Zodiac 612)” which was released the other day and received rave reviews. Such a rich and beautiful sound is depicted in a full show that includes delicious extremely rare songs. Speaking of the Dowl era, Soundboard’s press masterpiece “BRIGHTON 1978 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 614)” is a classic. Let’s compare and organize them here.
●White Snake (9 songs) ・Snakebite; Come On/Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City/Steal Away ・Trouble: The Time Is Right For Love (★★) / Trouble / Belgian Tom’s Hat Trick / Love To Keep You Warm (★) / Lie Down (A Modern Love Song) / Take Me With You ●Others (4 songs + α) ・Purple Flame: Might Just Take Your Life/Mistreated ・Others: Breakdown (Whitesnake Mama)/Maybe It’s Because I’m A Londoner (★★)/Rock Me Baby *Note: “★” marks are songs that could not be heard on the press masterpieces “BRIGHTON 1978 SOUNDBOARD” and “HANLEY 1978 SOUNDBOARD.” In particular, the songs marked with “★★” are extremely rare songs that do not have a soundboard.
…and it looks like this. “BRIGHTON 1978 SOUNDBOARD” is a full soundboard that far exceeds the official “LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH”, but this work has three more songs. “The Time Is Right For Love” is especially delicious. The equally valuable “Love To Keep You Warm” had a soundboard take of the BBC session, but there is no soundboard here at all… or rather, it is an extremely rare song that can only be heard in this work. Also, the unfamiliar song title is “Maybe It’s Because I’m A Londoner.” This is a Hubert Gregg song written in 1944 and recorded by various singers including Davy Jones of THE MONKEES and Bud Flanagan. It is famous in the UK, and when John starts playing it playfully, it develops into a huge chorus that engulfs the whole venue. Although it is a one-minute performance, the elation of “Lie Down (A Modern Love Song)” that collapses from there is irresistible. Not only is it super rare, but it’s also the coolest must-listen scene. You can experience a full set full of extremely rare songs with rich, superb sound. Since there is no confirmation of the original master, it was introduced from the Shades label, but the quality and show content are completely press-grade new masterpieces. Along with Barney Tapes, this is an absolute gem of early WHITESNAKE. Please enjoy the experience to your heart’s content.
★Superb audience recording of “March 3, 1979 Hammersmith Odeon performance”. The core that penetrates through the clear air is powerful and extremely thick, and with its tremendous rushing power, it brings even the smallest details to your ears. The thick hall sound adds dynamism to the performance, while mysteriously not hiding the edges, and each note of the two guitars and keyboard is clear. This is an absolute work where you can fully experience the charity performance, which also features the extremely rare songs “The Time Is Right For Love,” “Love To Keep You Warm,” and “Maybe It’s Because I’m A Londoner.”

Of Fortune Featuring The Hook City String… » Good Lord ! Quelques mois plus tard, Coverdale faisait cependant ses débuts fracassants dans l’album “Burn”, and the rest is history…
