Ex-THIN LIZZY/MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Brian Robertson took some time out to reflect and remember former bandmate and friend Gary Moore, who passed away earlier this week.

Brian spoke about the recording process of the THIN LIZZY "Nightlife" album and his refusal to re-record Gary's solos:

"When I first joined THIN LIZZY and we recorded the 'Nightlife' album, there was this track that we had to do, a song called 'Still In Love With You'. As it was time to record the guitar solos I refused to replace Gary's original solos. They were the best solos I'd ever heard at that point and I wouldn't let anyone talk me into changing that!"

Robertson reflected on just one of his memorable Gary Moore stories:

"In the early days with LIZZY, we did a tour of Europe with COLOSSEUM II, which was the band Gary was in at the time, and we did a gig in Arnhem, Holland. Gary came round my room at the hotel after the show with a crate of brandy. Needless to say, we had a great time and we ended up hosing each other down with the fire hoses in the hallway. Unfortunately, the fire alarm went off and the whole hotel had to be evacuated. It was a very cheap hotel and it had lots of senior citizens living there, so all of these people had help each other out of the hotel in the middle of the night while Gazza and I stayed in the room and tried to hide. We ended up in the nick for that prank, but it was quickly sorted by our managements."

Brian Robertson is set to release his first solo album, "Diamonds And Dirt", on April 5 in North America via SPV/Steamhammer.

Sinon c'était aujourd'hui les obsèques de Gary Moore, dans le Sussex et sa famille ainsi que ses amis ont écrit un petit message pour tous ses fans, publié par Planet Rock

"The family wanted to say a huge thank you to all the friends & fans who, have sent in messages of condolence, support and kind wishes.

"They have taken great comfort in knowing that thru the Planet Rock "family", Gary may be in your thoughts at this time.

"Gary was extremely proud of the "Blues Power" show he helped make for Planet Rock, and was very surprised that it was thought good enough to win an award. A totally unexpected and humbling experience. He was so pleased that such a simple thing as playing his favourite music, talking a little about it and attempting to illustrate it further with a little piece of guitar playing, could bring such a reaction.

"He was also very happy to lend his support in whatever way possible, during the "fight" to keep the station going. He loved music, listening to it, playing it and talking about it, so Planet Rock was the ideal place to remind him about tracks he'd forgotten about or to hear old favourites.

"So again, a very big thanks you to all, for the very kind thoughts and wishes."

Pour une fois que les "total song" (partitions complètes de morceaux) font leur retour, ils auraient pû en proposer des inédites plutot que ces 5-là qui ont déjà été publiées.

Un documentaire sur Gary Moore "Knuckles White & Blue Moods" devrait voir le jour cette année . Il est réalisé par Jörgen Holmstedt et Stefan Mossberg qui apparemment ont mis plusieurs années à préparer le film.
On connait les noms de certains "figurants" : Don Airey, Jon Hiseman, John Sykes, Brian Downey, Eric Bell, Brian Robertson et bien sûr Gary Moore.

La vhs "Wild Frontier Tour – Live At Isstadion" parue en 1987 sera enfin rééditée au format DVD. Dans les bac à partir du 10 mai.

On the 2nd of May 2011 EMI will release the classic Stockholm concert from 1987! The double set will including a CD and a DVD, with the same 9 songs as it was released originally on VHS. The difference is that this time they've used longer versions of the last two songs. "Rockin' Every Night" and "The Loner" were edited to shorter on the original release, but if the details are correct what we have got from EMI, it seems that now we can enjoy them in a longer version. These are the tracklists of this forthcoming release:

Si Eagle Rock avait la bonne idée de sortir "Emerald Aisles - Live In Ireland" en DVD avec des sous titres français, je serais aux anges ...

Pour le Stockholm '87 il y a ausi le cd. Il est vrai que pour Emerald Aisles, ce serait une bonne idée.

Il etait temps car ma k7 video fait un peu la gueule.

Le Stockholm 1987 est un bootleg, publié par le label Immortal, spécialiste en la matière. Il s'agit juste d'un transfert sur dvd de la vhs de 1987. Aucun travail de restauration n'a été fait.

Merci de la précision mais c'est trop tard pour moi ...

Ces derniers jours, vient de paraître le Live At Montreux 2010 qui comprend une set-list très hard. Au revoir tous les blues répétitifs et chiants à mourir et place aux titres-phare de son répertoire à savoir Over The Hills And Far Away, Thunder Rising, Blood Of Emeralds, Military Man, Parisienne Walkways et Out In The Fields tous trois composés avec l'immense Phil Lynott, ce qui nous fait au final 3 titres extraits de Wild Frontier (Over The Hills And Far Away, Thunder Rising interprété juste sur la tournée 87 et le très émouvant Johnny Boy dédié au grand Phil). Immanquablement, il ne peut faire fi de titres comme Walking By Myself ou bien encore Still Got The Blues. Au final, un superbe live sorti en cd et en DVD que tout amateur de bonne musique devrait posséder même si en 2010, le Gary apparaît bouffi et si sa voix donne parfois quelques signes de faiblesse, Neil Carter (ex-UFO) est bel et bien présent pour épauler notre Irlandais.

et ce live est tout simplement ENORME !!!!!

le plus triste dans tout cela est que les trois (tres ,tres bon ) inedits annoncaient un album dans la lignée de black rose / wild frontiers .
