Le 40ème anniversaire de Foreigner approche et l'ancien chanteur Lou Gramm voudrait faire quelque chose de spécial pour marquer l'occasion. Ainsi qu'il l'a dit à ABC News Radio, il est ouvert quant à l'idée de rejouer avec Foreigner ce qui serait la première fois depuis qu'il a quitté le groupe en 2003. Il pense également que ce serait super le leader du groupe Mick Jones réunissait les anciens membres pour des shows spéciaux.

Foreigner‘s 40th anniversary is approaching, and former singer Lou Gramm would like to do something special to mark the occasion.

As Gramm told ABC News Radio, he’s open to the idea of performing with Foreigner for the first time since he last left the lineup in 2003 — and he thinks it’d be great if band leader (and sole remaining founder) Mick Jones rounded up the surviving original members for some special shows.

“I think it would be terrific,” said Gramm. “It wouldn’t have to be any kind of commitment or anything. Just to honor that anniversary and do something.”

Any celebrations would have to occur without the participation of original Foreigner bassist Ed Gagliardi, who died last year, but utility player Ian McDonald, keyboardist Al Greenwood and drummer Dennis Elliott could all potentially be available. McDonald and Greenwood departed in 1980, while Elliott exited in 1992.

Toute commémoration se ferait bien évidemment sans le bassiste originel de Foreigner, Ed Gagliardi décédé l'année dernière mais avec le bassiste Ian McDonald, le claviériste Al Greenwood et le batteur Dennis Elliott qui seraient potentiellement disponibles. Mc Donald et Greenwood avait quitté le groupe en 1980 tandis qu'Elliott est parti en 1992

Even though he admitted he hasn’t heard anything from Jones regarding anniversary plans, he said he still speaks with his former partner on occasion, and believes that “if we don’t do anything to mark [the anniversary], then we never will.” No matter what happens, Gramm said he intends to commemorate the band’s 40-year milestone in some fashion.

Même s'il reconnaît n'avoir eu de retour de la part de Jones concernant quel projet que ce soit pour célébrer cet anniversaire, il dit qu'il continue d'entretenir occasionnellement des contacts et pense que si on ne fait rien pour marquer cet anniversaire, eh bien, on ne le fera jamais. Peu importe ce qui se passera, Gramm a dit qu'il célébrerait cet évènement important de quelle manière que ce soit.

“Maybe he’ll celebrate that 40th anniversary with his own band in his own way,” Gramm said regarding Jones and the current Foreigner lineup. “And if so, I’ll certainly honor it with my [solo] band too.” Jones last performed with Gramm in 2013, when the duo was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Jones avait joué la dernière fois avec Gramm en 2013 lorsque le duo avait été nominé au Rock And Roll Of Fame.

Gramm also discussed his recently revamped website, which includes a busy tour calendar booked intermittently throughout 2016 — including a March 11 date as part of the Little Dreams Foundation’s second annual benefit show, whose lineup also boasts a set from foundation co-founder Phil Collins.

(December 6, 2016) A long-awaited FOREIGNER reunion took place December 5, 2016 to celebrate the RIAA Platinum certification of 2008’s NO END IN SIGHT: THE VERY BEST OF FOREIGNER (Atlantic Records/Rhino Entertainment), a double-disc collection featuring the band’s biggest hits, including “Feels Like The First Time,” “Cold As Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” and “I Want To Know What Love Is.” It also includes a brand new song, “Too Late,” as well as live performances by the current line-up that includes founding member and lead guitarist Mick Jones, lead singer Kelly Hansen, bassist Jeff Pilson, rhythm guitarist/saxophonist Tom Gimbel, and keyboardist Michael Bluestein.

Along with Atlantic Records Chairman & CEO Craig Kallman, original members Mick Jones, Lou Gramm (lead vocals), Al Greenwood (keyboards), and Ian McDonald (rhythm guitar, keyboards, saxophone, flute, backing vocals) came together for the Platinum plaque presentation, which took place on Monday, December 5th at the Atlantic Records office in New York City. Fittingly, the presentation took place in a room dedicated to the memory of Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun, a close friend of the band’s throughout their many years at the label.

In the last 10 years, only four other Classic Rock artists have released albums featuring new music that have been certified Platinum by the RIAA: Eagles, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, and Journey.

“NO END IN SIGHT was named as a tribute to the longevity of FOREIGNER’s music,” said founding member Mick Jones. "Lou Gramm, Al Greenwood, Ian McDonald, Ed Gagliardi, Dennis Elliott, Rick Wills and I originally brought these songs to life. Years later, the current members of FOREIGNER added their talent to NO END IN SIGHT, and continue to bring our music to a whole new legion of fans.”

“In the seven-decade history of Atlantic Records, there is a select group of artists who stand out as true musical icons, and Foreigner certainly belongs in that elite family,” said Craig Kallman. “Their longevity is a real testament to the power of timeless songwriting, fantastic musicianship, and Mick Jones’s brilliant vision for the band from day one. The fact that they’ve scored yet another platinum award 40 years since the release of their first album proves that their music remains relevant and compelling today, spanning generations of fans. We’re immensely proud to have Foreigner’s incredible body of work as part of Atlantic’s heritage.”

Foreigner have rescheduled their postponed November 2017 tour for May 2018.

Part of Foreigner’s ongoing 40th anniversary celebrations across the globe, the rockers will play a quartet of shows next May taking in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and London.

Tickets go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 9am on Friday 12th May. The tour dates are as follows:

MAY 2018
Manchester O2 Apollo – Sat 12th
Glasgow Clyde Auditorium – Sun 13th
Birmingham Symphony Hall – Tue 15th
London Royal Albert Hall – Wed 16th

Mick Jones enthuses: “I never could have imagined when I set out to create Foreigner forty years ago, that we’d still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later.

“I can’t express the gratitude I feel when fans share stories of how our songs have been woven into their milestones and memories over the years.”

He continued: “Playing at The Royal Albert Hall has been a childhood dream, as one of my earliest memories was attending a Gustav Holst concert, mesmerized by Sir Malcolm Sargent conducting ‘The Planet Suite.’ To perform with my band at this iconic venue decades later is a true honour.”

Unlike the postponed November shows, Foreigner will not be joined by Asia on these rearranged dates.

Foreigner release the 1CD, 20-track album ‘40’ on Friday 12th May which contains the band’s biggest hits. A double album version of the same name follows on Friday 19th May.

Quatre des cinq membres originaux survivants de FOREIGNER se sont réunis pour trois chansons lors du concert du groupe hier soir (jeudi 20 juillet) au Jones Beach Theatre à Wantagh, à New York. Le chanteur Lou Gramm, le claviériste Al Greenwood et le multi-instrumentiste Ian McDonald ont rejoint Mick Jones pour interpréter "Long, Long Way From Home", "I Want to Know What Love Is" et "Hot Blooded". C'est la première fois que Jones, Gramm, Greenwood et McDonald jouaient ensemble depuis 1980....

Le leader de FOREIGNER, Mick Jones, est revenu sur son rapprochement avec Lou Gramm et leurs projets lors d’une interview accordée à « Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon« .

» Je pense que cela a commencé lorsque nous avons été intronisés au Songwriters Hall Of Fame il y a quelques années. Nous nous sommes réunis, nous avons décidé de faire quelques chansons en acoustique et, honnêtement, cela a fait baisser la pression.

Je pense que cela nous a fait réfléchir tous les deux sur ce que nous avions et les merveilleux moments que nous avons eu ensemble et c’était très émouvant.

C’est ainsi que nous avons renoué une relation. Ensuite, petit à petit, nous avons pensé que ce serait génial si nous pouvions faire quelque chose pour les fans alors nous nous sommes lancés et ça a très bien fonctionné. Le groupe, les anciens et les nouveaux membres se sont entendus comme larrons en foire tout comme Lou et le chanteur actuel, Kelly Hansen. C’était vraiment très émouvant et exaltant. «

Interrogé sur les chances d’enregistrer avec Gramm, le guitariste a répondu: « Lou et moi avons écouté quelques vieilles idées que nous avions et nous travaillons sur ce matériel en ce moment. Il y a une chance que ces idées soient diffusées sous un format ou un autre. Il pourrait même s’agir d’un EP. »

En attendant, FOREIGNER sortira un live symphonique le 27 avril « Foreigner With The 21st Century Symphony & Chorus » et donnera une dizaine de concerts avec un orchestre symphonique pour promouvoir la sortie de cet album (8 aux USA et 2 en Suisse).
