Robert Plant Signs Up For Charity Show

Led Zep frontman Robert Plant has signed up to take part in a concert that will raise money for the Nordoff-Robbins charity.

The Rockwell concert on 11 September will see some “unique collaborations” between some high profile artists, although it’s not yet known who Percy will be collaborating with on the night.

The event takes place 19 years after a similar show took place at Knebworth, when Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney and Robert Plant played to 120,000 fans in aid of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy.

Robert Plant a eu récemment une longue discussion avec Michaël Eavis, l'organisateur du prestigieux festival de Glastonbury. D'après le chanteur, il pourrait participer à cet important festival mais il n'a pas encore précisé avec qui il monterait sur scène.

Donc à l'heure actuelle on ignore toujours si cela sera en solo ou en duo avec Alison Krauss. D'autre part, on parle aussi de la présence du groupe Them Crooked Vultures au festival, formation dans laquelle on retrouve un autre ex-Led Zeppelin, le bassiste John Paul Jones. Toujours à propos du festival de Glastonbury, Jarvis Cocker a annoncé que le groupe Pulp pourrait se réunir pour l'événement. Affaire à suivre...

Robert Plant To Play London Show

Robert Plant is to perform a unique set as part of a charity concert on 25 February, and you can bid to get tickets.

The Sound & Vision concert sponsored by Shepperton and in aid of Cancer Research UK takes place at Abbey Road Studios on 25 February and will see Plant performing a set backed by American singer songwriter Beth Neilson Chapman and the London Oriana Choir.

Robert Plant says: “Performing at Sound & Vision is something I’m really excited about. Cancer Research UK is a very worthwhile cause, and when Bob asked me to get involved I didn’t hesitate. My set is quite different from anything I’ve ever done before, as I’ll be performing with Beth and a full choir on stage. Cancer is a disease that affects so many people and Sound & Vision is a great way to raise money to fight it.”

Tickets for the event are being auctioned through Sound & Vision’s eBay site at the link at the foot of this page.

There are a host of other items on offer, including a Led Zeppelin drum cymbal signed by Jason Bonham, a signed Eric Clapton presentation set and a signed Pink Floyd album presentation set.

Robert Plant s’attèlerait à l’enregistrement de son nouvel album, dont la sortie serait prévue courant 2010. L’album succèdera à ‘Raising Sand’ sorti en 2007, pour lequel l’ancien leader de Led Zeppelin s’était offert les services de la chanteuse country Alison Krauss.
L’artiste est en studio à Nashville, avec le producteur Buddy Miller (Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, …) et l’on sait également que le chanteur country Darrell Scott serait invité sur l’album. Celui-ci décrit ses sessions de studio avec Plant comme inoubliables : « Ce que je retiendrai surtout, c’est l’amour de Robert pour la musique. Il aime de tout : country, blues, rockabilly, … ».

C'est vrai mais bon on aimerait qu'il aimât davantage LZ car la prestation de l'O2 laissait entrevoir de bien belles choses.

Oui mais pour Plant, Led Zep fait partie du passé... Je pense qu'une nouvelle collaboration avec Page et Jones ne verra plus le jour... Je veux dire avec de nouvelles compo et une tournée...

C'est malheureusement vrai.

donc pour moi, robert P fait parti aussi du passé et du mizn, na !

Même si ça me fait ch.. , je respecte énormément la décision du bonhomme, et quand on voit la qualité de "Mighty réarranger"(quel concert à Nice!!)et de l' album avec la môme Krauss, je me dis qu' il a encore beaucoup de choses à nous apporter, faut savoir tourner la (le?) page, amen!

Moi aussi je comprend sa décision et j'ai toujours apprécié sa carrière solo.

Robert Plant comme en 68?



Robert Plant a annoncé la naissance d’un nouveau supergroup qui devrait s’appeler à nouveau Band of Joy.
Comme son groupe des années 60 qui avait précédé Led Zeppelin. On y retrouverait Patty Griffin au chant, Buddy Miller à la guitar, Byron House à la bass, Darrell Scott multinstrumentaliste et Marco Giovino à la batterie.

Seven song titles conveyed by Smirke's review for Billboard are as follows:

* "Angel Dance" is the opening track, described as "a driving blues" and one of the "standout tracks"
* "Silver Rider" is described as another of the "standout tracks" and "an epic duet" with a female vocalist (probably Patty Griffin, Smirke surmises), and the song "alternates between quiet relaxed verses and an infectiously catchy rock chorus"
* "I'm Falling in Love Again" is "a beautifully soulful country ballad," Smirke reports
* "You Can't Buy Me Love" is said to convey "a foot-tapping cross between Johnny Cash and Hamburg-era Beatles"
* "Monkey," he says, "momentarily harks back to Plant's days in Led Zeppelin" featuring a "potent mix of feedback, grinding rock riffs and deep bass" (my observation: note the monkey on the album cover)
* "Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down" is another "blues number" that, he says, "pushes Plant's still-powerful vocals to the fore"
* "Even This Shall Pass Away" (my observation: perhaps a mournful title mirroring the Raising Sand closer "Your Long Journey") is one Smirke says "finds Plant singing, 'What is wealth, the King would say/Even this shall pass away,' before culminating in an extended instrumental outro"

First reports filtering across the Atlantic from Roberts Memphis gig last night shows a varying set list covering all corners of the singer career. Kicking off with Down To The Sea from Fate Of Nations before the first single from the forthcoming Band Of Joy album Angel Dance. Next is the Page/Plant number Please Read The Letter returning back to the original rather than the Robert/ Alison version. House Of Cards follows before dipping into Led Zepp 4 for a slower tempo version of Misty Mountain Hop. Lows Monkey follows before a three song medley of Oh What A Beautiful City/Wader In The Water/In My Time OF Dying Medley in a traditional gospel setting. Two songs from his successful Raising Sands album follow, Rich Woman and Gone Gone Gone.
