Robert Plant has confirmed the rumors that he married Patty Griffin last year.
"I eloped and ran off to Texas," the singer tells The Independent. "So now I spend half my time there and half here [in the UK]."
There, the couple lives in what the former Led Zeppelin frontman describes as "an old crack house in Austin," a rented place infested with termites. "I tap my hand on the table and they fly out the walls in this huge cloud, like something from a Disney film."
In spring of 2011, rumors that the two were a couple started with a report by Austin Music Source blog Austin 360, with writer Michael Corcoran describing a passionate make-out session at the baggage claim area of a local airport as Griffin picked up Robert upon his arrival.
Last fall, the two were rumored to be seen around Austin sporting wedding rings, although neither singer had confirmed their status publicly.
Plant and Griffin worked together in the Band Of Joy, who released a live DVD last week.
"Robert Plant & The Band Of Joy: Live From The Artists Den" was filmed at Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium for the music TV series; it is now available on DVD and Blu Ray.

When Robert Plant said he'd eloped with Patty Griffin, he didn't actually mean he'd married her. That's what a rep for the former Led Zeppelin singer tells the Hollywood Reporter. In an article in the Independent last week, Plant seemed to confirm marriage reports that have been circulating for months.
"Robert has not married Patty Griffin" the rep says, adding that Plant was "just referring to the fact that he's been residing in Texas." Technically to elope is to run away and marry without permission from one's parents. It doesn't seem likely the 63-year-old Plant would have to hide such an arrangement with his Band of Joy bandmate.
Plant and Griffin have been dating for over a year, and they spend half of their time together in Austin, Texas. "I tap my hand on the table and (bugs) fly out the walls in this huge cloud, like something from a Disney film," Plant tells the Independent about their (or maybe just his) modest accommodations.
As previously reported, Plant and Griffin are planning a Band of Joy album for 2013 that will be "far, far out with psychedelic pedal steel and all sorts of stuff." They are also part of a "spacey, trippy" group called the Sensational Shape Shifters, who have been performing this summer.

On August 28th, Amy Cook will release Summer Skin, her follow-up to 2010's Let the Light In, on Roothouse Records. The album features guest appearances by such stars as Patti Griffin, Ben Kweller and Robert Plant. However, according to Cook, the duet with the Led Zeppelin frontman wasn't exactly planned.
"Robert Plant had come to the studio with Patty [Griffin] and was sitting next to me in the control room and he said, 'Do you mind if I give it a go?'" Cook tells Rolling Stone. "I did not mind. He sang it a couple of times and it was perfect."
Plant's harmony vocals appear on "It's Gonna Rain," a smoky ballad that makes ample use of the familiar "Stand by Me" chord progression. Cook describes it as a "song of hope," explaining, "'It's Gonna Rain' is a song I wrote for a friend who had had a rough couple of years."
Listen to "It's Gonna Rain" here, and check out Cook's August tour dates below.

Plant avait déjà participé au titre The Lord Is My Shotgun sur Evil Heat en 2002 :
Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant will guest on the forthcoming album by Primal Scream, due for release next year.
NME reports that Plant, in a new interview with Mojo magazine, said he wants to carry on singing, but doesn't want to start a new band or make a full album.
"Everything we did back in those days, and everything I have done since, has been based on a fresh approach,” said Plant. “What's going on? What can I be as a singer that doesn't play much? That's how I see everything: what can I be a part of that's exciting? And if anybody's got any ideas, then I'm always up for it."
"I sang a bit on the Primal's stuff,” he added, “because I think their references on looking back on the glorious past and the way they bring them into the contemporary world are fantastic."
The acts have recorded together in the past, with Plant playing harmonica on 2002 track “The Lord Is My Shotgun”, which appeared on the band's “Evil Heat” album.
Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters are currently in the middle of a South American tour, which wraps up in Lima, Peru on November 9.

Robert Plant was knocked over when a fan jumped onstage during a concert in Buenos Aires last week.
Plant, currently in the middle of a South American tour with The Sensational Space Shifters, played two shows at Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires.
During the closing of the November 1 concert, Robert finished Led Zeppelin’s “Rock & Roll” and was saying goodnight to the audience when a fan jumped onstage and ran towards the singer; Plant ducked to miss him, was bumped from behind by security and fell to the stage while the crew tackled the intruder.
Plant got up and brushed himself off, and said “Easy, easy” to the security crew as they removed the fan from the stage.
"Thank you very much for the fun," said Robert as he left the stage.
Plant wraps up his South American tour in Lima, Peru on November 9.

HarperCollins has signed world rights for a major new biography of Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant.
The Book Seller reports “Robert Plant: A Life” is written by former Q and Kerrang! editor Paul Rees, and is based on in-depth interviews with those closest to to the Led Zeppelin frontman as well as access to the singer himself.
The book will be released in the UK in October 2013, and appear in the US in January 2014.
It will follow Plant's career from early folk gigs in the 1960s in the Black Country, to his globe-spanning success with rock pioneers Led Zeppelin, as well as his recent Grammy-winning career working alongside bluegrass singer Alison Krauss.
"Robert Plant¹s stature as one of the greatest frontmen of all time is without question and as fans of his music from Led Zep to present, we have long wanted to publish his story,” said Natalie Jerome, publishing director at Harper Non-Fiction UK. “This book is as close to Plant telling his own story in his own words as we've seen or heard to date. Paul's close professional relationship with Robert is going to make for a revealing read and we can't wait to bring one of the greatest untold rock n' roll stories to the world."

Former Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant has announced his first 2013 American show with his backing band, Sensational Space Shifters. Plant and the Space Shifters will be performing at the inaugural JamBase Live Festival, taking place July 5-6 at the George Amphitheatre in George, Washington. Other performers at the festival include Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers and Robert Randolph & the Family Band.
At the present time, there are no other American dates Plant’s official site. Could this bode well for planning a 2014 Led Zeppelin reunion? Only time will tell.
Plant has been busy as of late, contributing vocals to partner Patty Griffin’s upcoming record while also making plans with Griffin for a new Band of Joy album.
The singer has also thrown his support behind the Bell Community Buyout, which is raising money to rescue a Bath, UK venue called the Bell that is under the threat of closure. The public is being encouraged to buy shares ranging from £500 to £20,000 to help the venue remain open.
“For the last ten years or so many of my musical adventures have been with friends from Bristol and Bath, so I’m fully aware of the Bell and its legacy and its contribution to the musicians and audience in the surrounding area,” Plant says.
“To me, the Bell is a crucial and integral venue and a great window into the world of music and entertainment in the West Country.”

Rock legend Robert Plant and former vocalist for Led Zeppelin is in town for the Timbre Rock & Roots 2013 music festival on Mar 21 to 22. Check out what he has to say about Led Zeppelin reuniting and the rest of the artists performing with him this week.

Plant y a également participé.
Ryan Gosling, star of Terence Malick’s forthcoming film about intersecting love triangles in Austin’s hepcat music scene, let slip in a recent interview with Indiewire that none other than Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant will be making his feature film debut in the as-yet-untitled picture. Given the film’s music-centric subject matter, and in light of the fact that Plant actually lives in Austin part-time, we’re assuming the former Led Zeppelin frontman will be playing himself.
According to Gosling, other musicians appearing in the film include Patti Smith, Johnny Rotten and The Black Lips. They will be sharing screen time with the likes of Michael Fassbender, Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman and Val Kilmer.
But wait! There is more breaking news from the Plant camp.
Yesterday brought word that Plant and his new band, the Sensational Shape Shifters, will be appearing at this year’s Forecastle Festival, which will take over Louisville, Kentucky’s Waterfront Park from July 12th through July 14th. According to a press release, Plant and his band will be performing songs from every era of Plant’s career.
This week also saw the release of Patty Griffin’s “Ohio”, which features Plant (who happens to be Griffin’s paramour) on harmonies. According to Griffin, her rock star boyfriend assisted on the song’s arrangement as well. "I had the song in an odd shape and couldn't really figure out how to use it," Griffin explained. "He came in and arranged it so that it became what it is. He came up with the tempo and the mood on it.”
